Gloves for Polar Explorers

Last Autumn I wrote and article and designed and wrote patterns for ‘Gloves for Polar Explorers’ for Knitting Traditions magazine, the American publication from Interweave Press.

Of course, while it’s in preparation all the work has not to be publicised, even in a blog, so until now I haven’t been able to blog about it.

The project was a great one to do  – interesting source materials, great yarns and a great opportunity to try something different for me.

Thomas_MittensStoker’s mitts in Blacker Aran weight North Ronaldsay © Interweave

The yarns for all the projects is from Blacker Yarns. The grey gloves are in a 4 ply wool and alpaca mix and the fawn ones are in the DK equivalent. The stoker’s mitts are in a pure breed Aran weight, the North Ronaldsay. They are all wonderful to knit with.
